Getting a linear pendant right

A linear pendant lights the full length of a dining table, kitchen island or bench. As a guide, choose one about two-thirds of the table's length and hang it 75 to 85 cm above the surface, so it lights the table without blocking the view across it.

Check where the ceiling's power point is before you buy: it should be centred over the table, and an electrician can move it if not. Warm white, about 3000K, suits dining areas, and each product's specifications say whether it can be dimmed. See the different lengths lit at our Osborne Park showroom, or browse single and cluster pendants. For heights and spacing, see how high to hang pendant lights.
